Chocolate and Peanut Butter Krispie Treats

I am just going to put this out there, you can love me or hate me for it. I am not a fan of the traditional Rice Krispie Treats. I know, it is completely un-American. I like marshmallows on their own, but there is just something about them, all stringy and messy that I just am not a huge fan of. But I really like the idea of them! No bake, ready in 10 minutes, only a few ingredients; they are pretty perfect in that regard. A couple months ago I tried these Peanut Butter Butterscotch Krispie Treats, and fell in love. They don’t have marshmallows in them, so they are dense and full on flavor.  Considering I liked it so much with butterscotch, why not do it with chocolate. Because peanut butter and chocolate is pretty much the perfect food combination in my book.

These krispie treats are dense, and all you get is the peanut butter and chocolate flavor. I drizzled a little white chocolate on the top to make them “pretty”, but you can totally skip this step. They are only 4 ingredients, and in 10 minutes you are done! I made these to bring on a trip with us. We were meeting friends, and they were letting us borrow their car for the day. I thought this was a good way to say thank-you. I was very happy they made it safely to our destination, and 3 days later when I delivered them, they were still delicious!

I kept a couple of these krispie treats for my 7 year old to try before we left. He loves just about anything with peanut butter and chocolate as well, and these were no exception. He was kind of upset to see the rest of the pan leaving the house. They will get made again though. We never go through a whole box of cereal, so this is a great way to use up what is left.

I am always sharing new recipes over at Dinners, Dishes, and Desserts. I hope you will stop over and say Hi!
